SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA CHAPTER, SOCIETY FOR THE PRESERVATION AND APPRECIATION OF ANTIQUE MOTOR FIRE APPARATUS IN AMERICA
Eight CFE member's fire apparatus and eleven ambulances from the Professional Car Society (PCS) participated in the annual Rollin' to the Rescue emergency vehicle "code 3" caravan and static display at the American Heroes Air Show at Hansen Dam Recreation Area, Valley Terrance, CA on July 18.
In addition to the emergency vehicles from the two clubs, both LA City and LA County FD had fire apparatus on display, along with local, state and federal law enforcement and rescue groups. A dozen helicopters were on display, including fire choppers from both L.A. City and L.A. County FDs. There were educational and informational displays by area agencies and vendors as well.
Some of the displays and demonstrations were cut short as most of the fire apparatus and helicopters from La City and County and the U.S. Forest Service were dispatched and left code 3 enroute to a vegitation fire in Santa Clarita near the 5 and 14 freeways, only a few miles north of the show. Smoke from the "Foothill" fire was clerly visible from the park.
Also participating this year were two retired CHP cruisers, one of them being CFE member Mike McDonald's restored 1989 pursuit Mustang which was on display at the CHP booth.
Those participating in the Code 3 roll-in staged next to Joe Ortiz's house in Sun Valley in the morning and then proceeded as a group to the park.
